June Hike
Saturday, June 28th
The hike for June is set for Saturday, June 28th. We'll be heading up into the Mountains above LA to hike along a Mountain Stream. The hike is under the cover of Pine & Oak Trees most of the way. This should be a 5-6 mile hike with 800-1000 FT elevation gain each way. This is a hike for Intermediate Hikers. So long as you run hike, bike or play sports 2-3 times a week for an hour+ duration, you should enjoy the hike, with some effort applied. We'll be meeting at the church at 8:45AM, leaving by 9AM & returning by 4-5PM.
The trail is called the Gabrielino Trail. The trail takes you to Switzer Falls. We'll be out on the trail for about 3-4 hours, allowing time for numerous breaks and lunch.
There a a few great spots to go swimming and snorkling in as well.
Driving Directions are as follows: We'll take the 405N to the 605N to the 210W to HWY2 East. Once we're on HWY2 it should take about 20 minutes to reach the trail head. Overall it's about a 1 hour and 10 minute drive.
Be sure to bring friends, 2-3 bottles of water, a snack, sunscreen, a bible or devotional book and gas money to give to those driving ($5 is fine). It should be shorts + T-shirt weather, but bring a jacket or sweatshirt or dress accordingly. You should wear comfortable walking, running or hiking shoes that you don't mind getting a bit dirty. There should be 10-20 people joining us for this hike.
If it is raining, or soon to be raining, the hike is canceled. If you're not sure check the web site the morning of the hike and I'll have the hike listed as "Go or No Go" as it is listed in bottom left corner of this page by 8AM. In the event the hike needs to be canceled before then, you'll see a "No Go" sign at least a few days in advance.
