Welcome to the Rock Harbor Hiking Events Website
We usually gather once a month in the Spring & Summer months and head out for a day hike.

We meet at the church on Saturday mornings at 8:45AM and return between 3-6PM depending on the hike and traffic. We car pool, so you don't necessarily need to drive. We are planning on having six hikes this year. click on the links to preview each hike. If weather is in
question the day of the hike, check the web site.

We hike to the top of peaks or along
cool streams, but we always get out of town and away from the everyday life in the city.

This is a the view from atop a mountain ridge in the San Jacinto Mountains. We took the easy way up using the Palm Springs Tram to get us to 8000 feet and then hiked up to about 9500 feet.
On the way to the top, we stopped every
15 minutes or so for a quick rest. There are different difficulty levels for each hike and I try and tell you up front how difficult each hike will be. This hike was for intermediate hikers. It was at a high altitude and we had to climb 1500 feet in about 3 miles. To join us for hikes as this, you should be currently walking, hiking, biking, etc. on regular basis to enjoy the hikes.

At the top or halfway point we stop for lunch and take some time to pray and thank God for everything.

You should be sure and check out details about each hike before you come along. For each hike you should bring in a backpack 2-4 bottles of water, a snack or lunch, sunscreen and bug spray. Most of the time it's quite warm, thus most people wear shorts and a T-shirt. The best shoes to wear are "Trail Walking or Running", but wearing any comfortable walking shoe should be O.K.
